The Home Café™** system features a Black & Decker®* branded brewer that incorporates Folgers** - America's No. 1 selling coffee brand - and Millstone** coffees. Applica and P&G will be marketing the Home Café™** system as a broad-based platform that allows for the licensing of the technology to other competitive appliance makers and brands who will also be distributing under the Home Café™** system with the ability to use Folgers** or Millstone** coffee pods in their respective appliance. Led by the marketing power of the Black & Decker®* brand and the renowned marketing prowess of P&G and its leading consumer brands - the Home Café™** system will provide maximum brand presence and wide-based distribution utilizing multiple appliance brands and coffee pods. By the end of 2004, consumers may select from their choice of branded Home Café™** appliance, but regardless of brand, the continuity of the Folgers** and Millstone** coffee-pods will provide an unprecedented ability to allow for a coffeehouse style experience in the home. Back to Home Cafe' System THE PRODUCT The Home Café™** system defines a new standard for home coffee brewing, bringing premium coffeehouse style coffee to millions of consumers in the comfort of their own home. The Black & Decker®* Home Café™** brewer showcases an exclusive brewing system which forces hot water through the ground beans at high pressure, a technique commonly employed in leading coffeehouses. The process consistently produces a high-quality, single serving of coffee in just one minute. The Black & Decker®* Home Café™** brewer allows consumers to customize the amount and brew strength of their coffee by setting the system for a 7 oz., 9 oz. or 14 oz. cup size. The Home Café™** system uses individually packaged Folgers** or Millstone** coffee pods containing a precisely measured portion of coffee for first-cup freshness every time. The coffee pods make the Home Café™** system easy to clean, with no messy coffee grounds, filters or baskets. The single-cup brewing system also eliminates the problem of wasting an entire pot of coffee, enabling every family member to enjoy his or her favorite cup of coffee anytime.
